Lincoln Vulcans Swimming Club (LVSC) has achieved re-accreditation of its current 4 levels of Swim 21 and has now added the Masters swimming accreditation to its impressive swimming credentials, and in doing so, has become one of the first clubs in the country to be recognised in all five swim21 categories.
swim21 is the Amateur Swimming Association’s (ASA) adaptation of Club Mark Accreditation. It confirms that swim21 clubs consistently demonstrate good practice and efficient operating standards through all the club’s activities, procedures and development schemes. Club Mark accreditation was introduced by Sport England in 2002 to ensure that accrediting clubs apply a common criteria.
Since its initial accreditation in 2007 Lincoln Vulcans has provided a high quality swimming environment in which children and adults to learn and compete in a safe, enjoyable and competent environment.
Lincoln Vulcan’s Chairman Dave Hendel commented:
‘The swim21 project is ongoing and involves a great deal of work for our volunteers in maintaining all our commitments to best practice in swimming. However, we are committed to providing the highest quality opportunities for those who want to swim. Through our work with swim21 we have been able to forge strong relationships with the ASA East Midlands Region and also with the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership and are all very proud to be able to deliver a comprehensive and safe environment for swimmers in Lincolnshire’
LVSC is one of only a handful of clubs in the country and only the second club within the East Midlands Region after Northampton to achieve all 5 levels of Swim21 accreditation - Teaching Development, Skill development, Competitive development, Performance and now Masters.
Lynsey Norris, Swimming Development Officer at the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership is delighted with the recognition that the local swimming club has achieved. She said:
“This is a fantastic achievement for Lincoln Vulcans, and Lincolnshire. To achieve swim21 is a time-consuming task, however, to have all five accreditations is remarkable. Lincoln Vulcans work very hard in and out of the water and deserve this recognition.”
Lincoln Vulcans is a swim 21 performance club which welcomes swimmers who wish to develop their competitive swimming abilities. A progressive training programme based upon the ASA Long Term Athlete Development framework underpins the ethos of the club.
