MARLIN GOLD FOR 2010 BRITISH LONG DISTANCE POSTAL SWIM
Marlin swimmers received presentation results last weekend for their efforst back in February where over 60 swimmers took part in the British Long Distance Swimming Association’s one hour swim. Because it is a world wide competition the results are not announced until early July - the challenge is to see how far you can swim in one hour and raise money for charity if possible - Belper raised over £800 for the Haiti Fund from this event.
The results were in and the swimmers did an amazing job:
6 year old Katy Dymond and 7 year old Sam Bassett were the youngest entries for Marlin.
Six Marlin disability swimmers took part, 8 year old George Henshaw won the Gold medal and 13 years Robert Abraham also got Gold both in the H1 Class
Ben Goodall (14) swam a tremendous 5100m (204 lengths) to take Gold, Ben was joined by Connor Osin (13) 4025m and Callum Bradley (13) 3837m to take the relay Gold medal from this British event. They swam an incredible amount of lengths between them at a very fast pace.
Alison Butlin won Gold in the ladies 35+ years age group & Alison was joined by Joanna Wilding and Julie Gale to win Gold in the ladies 25 + Relay
Marlin truly excelled in the British Postal Swim event - a big congratulations for all who took part and to the helpers who monitored their swimming times and lengths.
