Mansfield/Nova Swim Squad Member Sam Hynd (supported by Mansfield District Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and Rainworth Skoda) set the world alight again at the DSE International Disability Championships incorporating the trials for the Paralympics Games last weekend.
Sam set his second World record in three weeks, for the S8 Category 400m Freestyle smashing the previous record which he set at the British Championships in early April, by nearly 1.3 seconds. His time of 4.31.62 sec sends out a clear message to the rest of the World in his category, and should ensure his selection to the Paralympic Team which is due to be announced on Thursday 1st May 2008.
Sam backed this up with a British Record in the 100m Freestyle S8 Category of 1.02.16, and swam a solid 200m IM to again go under the paralympic Qualification standard.
Charlotte Henshaw who is currently studying and training at Stirling University, also again swam well inside the Paralympic Qualifying time, on her favourite SB6 Category 100m Breaststroke, and should be named also in the team on Thursday 1st May.
The Paralylmpic Team is due to be announced Thursday 1st May, 1pm. For further details please contact Glenn Smith Swim Coach & Development Officer, 07960 811335
