Extension: Deadline for applications for the Nottinghamshire Talented Coaches Programme is Wednesday 27th August
The Nottinghamshire Coach Development Group are looking to identify the most promising coaching talent in the county for inclusion in the Talented Coaches Programme 2008 – 2009.
The programme aims to individually develop a number of identified talented coaches working in Nottinghamshire. Individuals will be exposed to coaching environments and learning programmes that will give a greater understanding of the coaching methodology. Participants will learn how to use this methodology to create long term athlete development programmes applicable to coaching at all levels, including elite athletes.
Successful candidates will be supported over a 12 month period to develop knowledge, experience and skills specific to their current roles and in support of future coaching goals. The scholarship includes a core programme of education and training, an individually designed package of support and an identified mentor.
The programme will also include various practical elements such as visits to high performance coaching groups where scholarship coaches will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced coaches. To complement the practical learning, scholarship coaches will undertake an educational component which may include enhanced coaching qualifications and other appropriate courses.
Scholarship coaches will be expected to participate in any programme in which they are placed. Coaches must also be committed to attending training sessions, some of which will be evening workshops. You will be given sufficient prior notice of these dates.
Candidates will also work with their assigned mentor enabling the scholarship coach to develop a comprehensive understanding of the training and production of athletes from grass roots to elite level, and the programs in which they train and compete.
