The finalists have been announced for all the categories in this years BBC East Midlands Sports Awards.

The 6th annual awards will see Olympic and Paralympic medal winners battling it out for top honours.

The BBC’s John Inverdale is hosting the ceremony at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham on Thursday 27 November. 

The event will be covered on BBC East Midlands Today, BBC Radio Derby, Leicester, Lincolnshire and Nottingham.

Here are the East Midland swimming finalists for some if the categories for 2008.

Sports Personality of the Year

Disabled Sports Personality of the Year
Sam Hynd – Nova Centurion
Rob Welbourn – Lincoln Vulcans

Coach of the Year
Bill Furniss – Nova Centurion

Junior Sportsperson of the Year
Lizzie Simmonds – Loughborough University

Junior Disabled Sportsperson of the Year
Jenni Cooke – Belper Marlin
Sam Hynd – Nova Centurion
