Presentation Evening

On Friday the 15th of January 2010 Calverton & Bingham Swimming Club held their presentation evening at the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground. During the evening a host of certificates and awards were presented to all swimmers from the very young novice swimmers to the masters that competed in the 2009 Club Championships.

The overall winners trophies from the novices upwards went to -

Also on the evening the 2009 Club Captains were thanked for all their efforts, after which the 2010 Club Captains were introduced and presented with their Captains shirts -

This year the Swimmer of the Year Award as voted by the swimmers went to - Olivia Wallace

Volunteer awards went to - Trudi Manterfield, Paul Hough, Betty Snodin and Karl Knox

The evening also marked the retirement of the well liked and respected Head Coach Mike Adams.

Mike was the Head Coach at Calverton Swimming Club between 1997 and 2007 and then Head Coach of Calverton & Bingham Swimming Club between 2007-2009 after the merger with Bingham. When Mike initially joined Calverton the club were in Division 3 of the Speedo league and low down in the Nottingham league galas. This subsequently changed with Mike's guidance and the club gained promotion every other year and reached their first final of the West Midlands Division 1 by 2002, which was also the club's first year in the top division. This also marked Calverton being the highest placed Notts club in West Midlands Division.

Over the years Mike has been a dedicated coach not only to the club but the sport as well. During his time at Calverton and CABSC he travelled about 90 miles to training and back each session approximately around 25000 miles a year, enough to travel around the world 3 times!

The club presented him with an engraved glass decanter and a scrapbook of memories, photos / messages from the swimmers throughout his years at the club. The swimmers and coaching team also wished him good luck in his retirement ... well from coaching anyway.
