Long Eaton Swimming Club held their annual Open Meet at the end of January.
Formed two years ago when the two clubs, Trident and Treonte, based at Long Eaton’s West Park Leisure Centre merged, this was really the club’s twelfth such event.
Around three hundred swimmers from thirty one clubs took part. Always fully subscribed, this year’s meet, which included the 200m freestyle for the first time, was turning away entries a full two weeks before the closing date, the new distance proving extremely popular
As usual, all three sessions, and each individual event, were sponsored by a local business or family, including Club President, Bill Camm, who has sponsored every Open since their inception.
Top Boy and Top Girl prizes, sponsored by Advanced Vending Supplies, both went to Calverton and Bingham swimmers, Callum Murray and Claire Snowden.
